Chip

This is Chip, he is a two year old lurcher. We're not quite sure what cross he is, we've had suggestions from deerhound cross to greyhound x wire haired pointer. Answers on a postcard, I guess...
When we rescued Chip, he was an absolute maniac and I don't think we knew what we were letting ourselves in for. However, he has since calmed down and become a lot more focused. He's trained by my Mum, and he's her first "sporting" dog.
Chip and my Mum started flyball in October 2007, our leggy boy was a crazy and scatter brained lunatic. However, all the hard work paid off and he's showing enormous potential. He made his starters debut at Carlton Towers in March 2008, and was a really good lad - much to our surprise. His box turn is brilliant, and I credit a lot of this to 'Owlers, but also to all the practice that he gets on the chute at home. A few people have commented on how good it is for a dog of his size; he usually gets 3 paws on, if not all 4. He hopes to be the next Murphy whippet and loves playing with his best pal Dylan at training.
Agility-wise, Chip and my Mum are complete novices. He is currently doing pre-comp training and working on running ahead of my Mum. He is very focused now, but immensely fast and his turns are somewhat cruiseliner like! We're working on it though, and he has only done one or two sessions. He is learning his weaves on channel weaves, and my Mum is perfecting his "touch" command for the targets on the dogwalk etc. He loves tunnels, must have been talking to Poppy! However, with a lot of work, he will be really good I hope....if my Mum decides not to run him I might steal him...lol! I doubt she'd let me.
We call Chip "Jet's personal trainer", as without him she wouldn't be half as fit as she is now. She pushes herself to the extreme to keep up with him.
You can see a video of Chip doing flyball on the videos page.
