About Me
My name is Katie, I'm 18 and this website is mainly about my dogs; Jet and Poppy. You can find out more about JnP on their pages, but here is a bit about me...
My home is in Huddersfield, but I during term time I live in Liverpool. I'm studying Veterinary Science, and I'm currently half way through the first year (Feb 08). The course is pretty intense, and although at times you lose sight of the fact that you'll eventually be a vet, most bits are really interesting, especially dissection which is immense!! There is also a fantastic social side to Liverpool Vet School; I've never had a bad vet night out, everything from freshers week, to the dreaded "inititiation" to Burn's night.
Although I don't get that much free time, I try to fit in as much as I can. I'm not able to train agility very consistently, but luckily I have an amazing Mum and some great friends who make sure my dogs still get to do something. At university I like to keep busy by going out, going to the gym, reading about vet stuff, drawing (mainly vet related anatomical drawings!) and listening to my ipod! I don't get much time for TV these days, but I can't live without my House DVDs.
I train and compete in BFA flyball with Leeds 'Owlers. We joined them in February 2007, and I've had the best time. Jet has gained her flyball dog award, her intermediate award and is well on her way to her graduate. Jet has come so far with Owlers, and I have learnt so much about flyball from them. I've gone from starters with Jet to division 1 racing in less than a year. I try to help out at tournaments as much as I can, anything from ringpartying to captaining!
At the moment I don't have an agility club, but do get together with friends when I can. This summer we'll be training a bit more consistently which will be great!
We did a little bit of obedience when Jet was too young to do agility, and we might take it up again in a few years time. We still practice but have never got into competing properly. We went to Crufts and came 3rd in 2007!
