Very quick! (Edit: so, I lied!)
First run was graded 1 & 2 jumping. Jet had a nice run but a disagreement at a pull through wasting us time. She did come 3rd though, only 0.5s off the winner – so very pleased with her!
Combined 1-3 agility, uncannily the only part Jet and I were in the same as Leanne and Dylan. They both did a huge turn around a box at the beginning, both looking to go up the aframe. Somehow Jet ended up 10th though, 2secs off the fabulous Helen and Lucy, who won into grade 4. Yey! Top grade 2 though…
Combined 1-3 jumping was a VERY fast, very easy course. She flew around clipping a pole, but her time of 18.7s would have put her 4th, the winner having done it in 18.1s, so I was very pleased with that.
Graded 1-2 agility was a nice course, Jet did all of it brilliantly, fab weaves – everything. They just put a bl*ody wishing well in – she’s never seen one in her life before, so she ran around it – as did 70% of the rest of the class. A real shame as she was great.
Sunday
Graded 1-2 agility was quite tricky as far as G2 goes. Jet did all the worst bits really well, I just didn’t pull her away from a jump in a box enough and she went left rather than straight over.
Combined 1-3 agility (part 1) was an ok course, but a pull through. I decided to handle it differently to everyone else, which made sure we got a clear but lost about 2secs at least. There was a pull through which I handled from the other side. I waited for her too long, meaning I got a titanic sized turn, nearly out of the ring. Shockingly she ended up 11th with such a messy run! Again, top grade 2, clearly we do in fact needed graded 1-3 classes!
Graded 1-2 jumping. She flew around but knocked the stretch. I don’t know what happened really, I think she just misjudged it? She’s seeing Kath on Wednesday anyway, so if it is anything with her being a bit uncomfortable we’ll find out. Her time would have won the class though which is frustrating.
Combined 1-3 jumping. Let’s not even discuss this run. Ok then, I will. After doing the first 7 obstacles brilliantly, I think she was just having too *much* fun, stopped listening and started taking her own path. I tried getting her back on course a few times, and then at the end she pretended she had no idea what the tyre was! (They were huge framed ones, but she had done them in other classes). I suppose she was fab for 7 runs, I can’t complain too much.
I suppose the very positive things to look at this weekend are
- She got her weave entries in EVERY class (both left/right hand)
- Her contacts were much, much, much faster than Otley
- She was actually listening to me
- I felt much calmer and more confident running her
- She passed her 100 AW points – yey!
The things to improve
- Need to reinforce her contact position. A few times she flew over so quick she stopped just after the contact, and in some cases on the floor! She was remembering to stop though. Yey
- Pull throughs! If I have a wing and tell her right-in, she knows what I mean, but on a course it goes to pot!
So overall a much better performance, I can’t wait to go to Dashin Dogs!
Firstly, well done to the a4p gang who were brilliant (secretly quite pleased no firsts this weekend, cake at training is doing my non-existent diet no good!)….
Emma & Bails for a 2nd in Medium G4 agility and some fab runs, looking much more like the Bailey we see at training! ![]()
Leanne & Kim for a 3rd, a 4th and a 5th in various medium classes, Kim’s way of telling her she doesn’t want retiring just yet ![]()
Leanne & Dyl finally getting towards the places we know they can with 2 x 8th place and a 12th in the grade 3 classes
Also well done to Helen and the fab Lucy for not only winning combined 1-3 agility and going grade 4, but also getting a 6th in jumping too. Super Luce
