Well, following the events at Drax, we had a quiet few weeks.
We were supposed to be at High Peak the following weekend, but unfortunately it was cancelled due to the showground being waterlogged due to the freak rain showers earlier that week. I was pretty gutted as the G2 classes were really small, also the dates meant that if Jet was to win out, she’d be in G3 for South Durham and Wilton. Which was a shame but hey ho. Our next show is next Sunday, Ribble, with Emma and Bails.
Seeing as it was cancelled we went to training instead. We rehearsed a few of the teams for Redcar. Jet didn’t quite seem her usual self. Sometimes she has slow days on the way back, but not on the way up. Her boots also kept coming off which was driving me mad. Anyway, the poor girl was really lame on her shoulder afterwards -bad Mum. I should have pulled her really when she wasn’t running right. She had a few days off rest and some time off training and was raring to go by Thursday.
We’ve had some fab walks with them though over the past few days and Jet & Chip have had loads of fun. On Thursday we took them to Blackmoorfoot Reservoir and they had a good play in the woods, and then some chuckit. Then they went to play in the little stream that runs into the res. It’s all water off the hills, so is nice and clean, and the bottom is cobbled so not uneven or anything. This meant they could play fetch for ages. We’d never let them in the actual reservoir – far too deep. Jet, on the other hand, had different ideas. Self proclaimed “Danger Dog”, found some steps down to the res and threw herself in after a duck. After going temporarily deaf (”She’ll regret all that shouting when I give her this duck!!!”, she eventually came back, unharmed and with a huge grin. Little devil she is.

No flyball yesterday as there weren’t many dogs free. Instead we went to go and see the house my Dad has spent the last year building, well actually 2 houses. It’s a barn conversion from where they used to keep the train that goes around the park. OMG – it’s amazing, the living rooma are 30ft square – and it’s on three floors. It’s beautiful – I want, I want!!! Best thing is it’s practically in the grounds of Shibden Hall Park – argghh I love it. Unfortunately we don’t have £400k spare at the moment the buy one of them. Seeing as we were going, we took Jet and Chip for a walk around the park. They played chuckit up the hills there and generally ran around like idiots. Jet eyed up the boating lake, perhaps wishing to add to her list of Huddersfield waterways, so we took them to a stream instead. They had a good play there and then we walked around the park for a while. Jet terrified me on several occasions. Seriously, that dog has no sense of self preservation. First of all she jumped into the stream from about 4ft up, which terrified me. Then we found another stream, and she ran straight across it to the other side, where she lingered on the edge of an 8ft drop – seriously considering jumping. She got told “don’t you bloody dare” and thought better of it. We ended that trauma with an icecream and then went home!
In the meantime, Jet has been working on her collie side and herding beating up some sheep.
…..Ooops.
Going to the reservoir today – yay!
