Jet 2009

December 31st, 2009

I suppose that I should really do one of these lol!

Agility:

We didn’t compete much in the first 6months  - I only did Newton Heath in February where we came away with a 6th place. We went to Otley with Emma, and finally won out of grade 1, and she also came 11th in the 1-7 Olympia class too, so that was fab. We had a fantastic day at Dogs Unleashed by her winning Introductory Agility, Introductory Jumping and coming 2nd in Introductory Circular Jumping – she also placed 7th in the 60 weave challenge, beaten only by masters dogs (Lucy Osbourne and Ben won!). Not after a whole day of flyball  too :)

We did a very wet and miserable 4 day EMDAC, where she had the fastest time in 3 of her classes but just a pole down – it was becoming rather infuriating! Still, we did get a fair few top5 placings. At JDA, she did her first grade 2 classes, coming away with a 3rd in her first ever class. Dashin dogs was full of second places, 4 of the things! Not to mention many more top 5s and a couple of 6ths. I knew we had to win out eventually!

After High Peak was cancelled, we did Ribble. Jet put in a fantastic round in graded 1-4 agility, when I went to see the results I was delighted to see she’d won grade 2 by no less than 17s. Emma made me check to see how she’d have done against the G3/4s – I was amazed to see she’d have won those parts too pretty comfortably.

Jet did her first Grade 3 classes at Wilmslow, where she got a 6th in a large Grade 3 jumping class, it was a fast course and she’d have come 3rd in the other half – so very pleased with her.

Having started the year on 12points, Jet now has 210 – and hence has her Agility Warrant Bronze!

Flyball:

Jet has run with Barneys/Ghosts all day, helping to get some fantastic times – including our first unofficial sub18 at the champs (where we did 18.25 with 0.26 on the lights!). We won our division at the champs again, that’s the third in a row for Jet now :D and as a team we won the Feelwells Team Challenge for the highest % of wins.

In August we did a bit of multibreed with the Marnicks at Drax, and have done a few competitions through winter. On the whole Jet has run great, bless her, particularly at Sheffield and Doncaster where she pulled off some crazy-fast times.

Points-wise we haven’t done as many shows as we did in 2008 – we didn’t get into a couple, and also we missed one or two for agility, however she did gain the points for her Silver Award (10,000 points) back in July at Rotherham’s tournament.

Goals for 2010:

- Win out of Grade 3 (not on points!)
- Get her Silver Agility Warrant
- Get her Gold Award (15,000 points)

We should get her Gold Award as she’s on 12000+ points already with two shows yet to go up for this year, so who knows. We haven’t got much agility booked right now, do the others might not go to plan. We can try.

If nothing else, Jet continues to amaze me. She is all I have ever wanted in a dog – crazy, keen, enthusiastic, fast, willing to please, affectionate…our whole family loves her to bits, she’s such a sweetheart. Anyone that meets her knows how mad she is, how much she wants to please me and that she gives everything 150%. :)

NAWS

November 30th, 2009

No training Saturday due to the more or less continuous rain during the week, so just a leisurely walk for Jet and Chip!

Sunday was the Northern Agility Winter Series (NAWS), Jet hasn’t competed there since she was 18months old. We were mainly there for two of the beginner dogs that me, Emma and Leanne take at A4P; my Mum’s Chip and Puzzle. They have a special class, class A, for dogs that have never competed before and they don’t include the weaves or seesaw, so we thought it would be nice for them. Jet was in class C, which is combined Grade3/4, so although there are a lot less dogs in the class we knew it would still be tough. Agility wasn’t great! The first run her dogwalk was somewhat lacklustre, she did her contact though and I held it for a fair while, her Aframe was fairly nice and her seesaw was ok. We got E’d though, mainly because I’d walked the course wrong and hadn’t worked out exactly what I was going to do! Second attempt was better but still not anything special, she got a refusal as I went to run away from her – my fault! Then she did a lovely seesaw, and I got her faulted again by stroking her on it once she got on her 2o2o – she was so good though!

Next was Nat’s C Jumping. Not terribly difficult, but equally not a full on blast around. First run she was a speedy girl, she did everything lovely but the right turn towards the home straight she went and weaved…I didn’t shout right loud enough! Second time though she was perfect! I really enjoyed running her in that class and to top it off she came 3rd! Less than 0.1s off 2nd, but a fair bit off 1st. She did beat a few grade 4 dogs though, which gives me hope of getting out of grade 3 :D

Lindsay and Puzzle had a brilliant first show! Their first jumping run saw a bit of an excited Puzzle head off for the tunnel, but second run just a refusal! He topped off the day with a clear round in agility, with held contacts – so I think we now have another agility addict. Leanne filmed his runs, so will post those soon. Can safely say we were all very proud! :D

Chip was a bit of a maniac….*sigh* He can be sooo good, and he has the most amazing contacts when he wants to. He showed some moments of inspiration in his jumping, but found it was all a bit too much to take in. So a bit more work is needed yet! I think Mum is going to have a go at running Poppy at training and maybe some competitions, to get used to the atmosphere herself and get used to running another dog. This will be when Poppy has fully recovered from her operation of course, but she seems very happy and bouncy so I’m sure she’ll be up for some agility. We’ll see how running her at training goes, if it goes well, I might sign her over to her and Pops can have some fun in Grade 1 with Mum, seeing as she’s never actually competed in G2/G3 or indeed won more than a 6th in G1…bless her!

Jet Set Go AW(B)

November 24th, 2009

Well what a long time since my last post – uni has been very busy!

We’ve done quite a few competitions though, Jet has been fab recently at flyball and picked up her Silver Award (10,000points) in October (gained in July I think); she got some brill presents off the ‘Owlers to say well done. The gift that ranked most highly in Jet’s opinion was her giant (pink, naturally) pig:
Jet’s face…need I say more?

We did Sheffield last weekend and Barneys came 3rd in div.1. I captained Eagles who all ran their socks off to come 3rd when they were seeded last, a second behind the top seeds. Jet also saw Kath and despite her escapades of the last few months, she had very little wrong with her – “bomb proof” apparently.

I haven’t had chance to train Jet in agility in months because of uni, but seeing as I’d entered Wilmslow, I thought I may as well go along. Overall she was fab, I was particularly pleased that the harder courses didn’t seem to phase her, and she actually managed to do some good pull throughs too. One thing I have never really tried with Jet (and should much more often!!) is crossing behind her on contacts. I decided to risk it in 3-5 and she coped fine. Yey! Last course of the day was Grade 3 jumping (part 2), a very wide open course. She flew around, just wasted a little bit of time at the flat tunnel where she headed for another jump but the rest was great. She was lying in 3rd for ages, but then a couple of dogs came along (less than 0.1s faster) and she ended up in 6th place. I checked to see where she’d have been in part 1 (cos I’m nosey like that!) – she’d have been in 3rd place. Yey! Good girly.

The best part of the weekend was that Jet got her final points towards her Agility Warrant, so is now Jet Set Go AW(B). She went from 20points to 201 points in the year which isn’t bad considering we don’t do that many shows.

I have NAWS this weekend, will give me chance to really proof her contacts again in the ring and hopefully give her a blast on jumping courses. Then Wyre after that. I do miss her while I’m at uni, and the others too of course, she decided on Friday night that gardening gloves were AWESOMENESS….not quite sure where they came from:

Finally, big Pops has had a very chaotic week! Firstly she cut her leg, and then had a black thorn removed from her leg the poor girl. She’s feeling very sorry for herself, but liking the attention. Oh and laying on my parents bed….you can see her boot on!

South Durham

October 4th, 2009

After a hectic week of uni, we set off for South Durham. It was Jet’s last G2 show and I just wanted to run her and see what she could do. A stressful start to the morning as the directions on the schedule were completely useless and we got lost, so I was sooo stressed out.

First run was combined1-7, more challenging than she was used to in G1-2 but she did a nice clear! Not the fastest I’ve ever seen her run, and a couple of bits where she could have been tighter, but she finished in the top30 and wasn’t a million miles off some really good dogs – 3s off Di Talbot’s Casey and just 2s off Lisa Adamson’s Dare. So I was dead pleased!

The wind really started to pick up and there were things (including obstacles blowing everywhere!). She had a speedy run in G1-2 but was unfortunately E’d – tunnel too tempting!

In the car she was starting to get a bit stressed out with the wind – panting a lot, but didn’t want a drink and seemed a bit on edge. I got her out and had a play with her, and she was a bit better – Jet is usually pretty fearless but where we were parked it was really loud, can only imagine what it was like for her. I took her to run c1-4 agility which on any other day would have suited her very much. I tried to wind her up before she ran, but she was having none of it and was freaked out by things blowing around behind her. She ran (and got E’d!), so we held her contacts and told her she was a good girl. Neither of us were particularly focussed for the rest of it. We went a did pairs, where she was slower than usual, freaked out by knocking a pole(?!) and just a bit on edge.

I decided at this point, there was no point to keep running her like that, she wasn’t herself and she couldn’t wait to get away from the wind. I took her to play ball in the exercise area and try and cheer her up, but she still wasn’t having any of it. On any other day, I would probably have stayed to run c1-4 jumping and G1-2 agility, and see if she cheered up. However my heart wasn’t in it, and I’m sure she’d have picked up on that as well as being scared of the wind. Poor Jet.

In some ways I do regret not staying, the weather might have died down or something, but when I only come back for the weekend, I want her to think of agility and flyball as being super fun, not being forced to do something she doesn’t want to. Her next show is Hare N Hounds in October, her first G3 classes. It’s indoor so she should LOVE it. :)

Ribble

September 20th, 2009

Quick post on Ribble Agility! I went to one of Ribble’s shows about 4 years back with Poppy, I remember that we couldn’t find the venue (and we nearly turned around and came home – but swiftly bought a satnav later that week!) and it was in a field somewhere. However, Poppy did get her first ever clear there I believe. Anyway, 4 years on and in an equestrian centre, that was remarkably easy to find. A fab venue, room for four (fair sized) rings and a tannoy that you could hear well into the parking. All the rings ran quickly, we were home by 4pm – a rare luxury!

First run was G1-4 jumping, she had a fabulous run and really felt like she’d stepped it up a gear. I pulled her off a jump and got her E’d, but the ringparty said it was a real shame – I was like “Oh god it must have been decent then!” lol!

Next run was Graded 1-4 Agility. A pretty straightforward course by Stuart Harmes, just a pull through at the end. Jet flew around like something possessed, nailing her contacts and weaves – just a bit wide on the pull through, and she nearly backjumped when I crossed behind. She was the fastest I’ve felt her run in a long time though. I recognised some of the dogs who kept pipping me to 1st place at Dashin, knowing they’d still be G2, and thought with those mistakes I’d yet again have to face being so “nearly G3″. I went to check the results, and to my amazement she had won in a time of 27.18s! The next G2 dog was 44s, and there were no dogs in the G3 or G4 sections who had run under 28s. I think the next closest was 28.6something….so she’d have won any of the parts! I was sooo pleased with the crazy little thing.

Either to wins had gone to her head, or Jet wanted to bring me down to earth with a bump, but her last two runs were a bit disasterous. In H/S, she chose the wrong tunnel (the least obvious one!) and proceeded to nearly plough down the judge who was stood at the other end of it (why?!). Her combined 1-3 agility was a fab course, that I really liked. She set off like a rocket, I started doing a front cross to the line of jumps parallel to that which we’d just done, and when I looked around she was on the end of the aframe (at the other end of the ring?!). God knows how she got there, but we carried on at crazy Jet speed and reminded me that we still have plenty to work on!

Huge Congrats to Emma and Bailey, who are now Grade 5! Winning both G1-4 Agility and G1-4 Jumping!

So, we ended the weekend Grade 3 :D Woohoo.

I love how she got Jet’s little white toes and huuuuuge front feet.

Love it – thanks Becca :)

Quiet few weeks

September 13th, 2009

Well, following the events at Drax, we had a quiet few weeks.

We were supposed to be at High Peak the following weekend, but unfortunately it was cancelled due to the showground being waterlogged due to the freak rain showers earlier that week. I was pretty gutted as the G2 classes were really small, also the dates meant that if Jet was to win out, she’d be in G3 for South Durham and Wilton. Which was a shame but hey ho. Our next show is next Sunday, Ribble, with Emma and Bails.

Seeing as it was cancelled we went to training instead. We rehearsed a few of the teams for Redcar. Jet didn’t quite seem her usual self. Sometimes she has slow days on the way back, but not on the way up. Her boots also kept coming off which was driving me mad. Anyway, the poor girl was really lame on her shoulder afterwards -bad Mum. I should have pulled her really when she wasn’t running right. She had a few days off rest and some time off training and was raring to go by Thursday.

We’ve had some fab walks with them though over the past few days and Jet & Chip have had loads of fun. On Thursday we took them to Blackmoorfoot Reservoir and they had a good play in the woods, and then some chuckit. Then they went to play in the little stream that runs into the res. It’s all water off the hills, so is nice and clean, and the bottom is cobbled so not uneven or anything. This meant they could play fetch for ages. We’d never let them in the actual reservoir – far too deep. Jet, on the other hand, had different ideas. Self proclaimed “Danger Dog”, found some steps down to the res and threw herself in after a duck. After going temporarily deaf (”She’ll regret all that shouting when I give her this duck!!!”, she eventually came back, unharmed and with a huge grin. Little devil she is.

jetpark1

No flyball yesterday as there weren’t many dogs free. Instead we went to go and see the house my Dad has spent the last year building, well actually 2 houses. It’s a barn conversion from where they used to keep the train that goes around the park. OMG – it’s amazing, the living rooma are 30ft square – and it’s on three floors. It’s beautiful – I want, I want!!! Best thing is it’s practically in the grounds of Shibden Hall Park – argghh I love it. Unfortunately we don’t have £400k spare at the moment the buy one of them. Seeing as we were going, we took Jet and Chip for a walk around the park. They played chuckit up the hills there and generally ran around like idiots. Jet eyed up the boating lake, perhaps wishing to add to her list of Huddersfield waterways, so we took them to a stream instead. They had a good play there and then we walked around the park for a while. Jet terrified me on several occasions.  Seriously, that dog has no sense of self preservation. First of all she jumped into the stream from about 4ft up, which terrified me. Then we found another stream, and she ran straight across it to the other side, where she lingered on the edge of an 8ft drop – seriously considering jumping. She got told “don’t you bloody dare” and thought better of it. We ended that trauma with an icecream and then went home!

In the meantime, Jet has been working on her collie side and herding beating up some sheep.

Going to the reservoir today – yay!

Drax

September 1st, 2009

We ventured to a very special Drax tournament where not one but two of the ‘Owlers dogs were retiring, and we had planned to camp. We set off early (and not-so-bright) to Selby with the caravan to Kellington’s first go at a two arena tournament.

Saturday morning captains were called to a briefing, seeing as Jane was still prepping George (anticipating div.1 being first in the blue arena), I went instead thinking it would be the routine. It turned out it wasn’t and I had to give my brain a mental work out trying to remember everything said and report back. It turned out that the boxes for the lights had been left on the Wirral, so Steve would go and meet someone halfway for them. This meant arena’s starting late, starting on hand timing and a complete swap around of divisions. I have to say though, all involved made it run really smoothly and we were still done racing before 6:30pm.

Jet was with Norah, Floss, Murphy and George in division 1. We had looked forward to this for a long time, having done an 18.25 with a 0.26s start at the champs, and not really pushing the changeovers. Jane had her master plan as always, Jet out for the first one so the “older” members of the team could get warmed up and we could run the fastest four second or third race when they were all up for it. Having waited for a good 30mins for arena to finish etc, they were all biting at the bit and really up for it. So while I pinned Jet down, the other four ran their socks off. First leg there were lights all over…..second leg they did 17.70s!!! Amazing stuff, they looked so good. Just as they were lining up for another in awe of what had just happened, James shouted over for everyone to have a look at Murphy. Him and Norah had been very wound up on the run back, and typical thin skinned whippet had got himself torn by our crazy beardie. As the rules state, no dog can run with an open wound so we sadly lost Murphy as he went to the vets and came back with 4 stitches. This meant we were down to the usual four, who were so nice and were determined that Jet would get her sub18 as well – even without Murphy. We tried our best and came away with an 18.12 which isn’t bad going at all. Obviously I was a little disappointed, but it was out of everyone’s control really and we were all pleased that Murphy was ok and that ‘Owlers had finally got that 17s time we’d chased for so long! I know that we can do it again, and can only think what times we might have done if we’d still had Murphy!

A quick swap then to cool Jet down, put her back and run Sally for Dog Friendly! Sally is their first team’s lead dog, and she is sooo easy to run. Wow, no catching at the end, she just has her kong and she’s happy. My starts weren’t too bad either – it’s been a while since I did the lights!!

Saturday evening was Sue and Roger’s Anniversary and they had a party in the clubhouse. One of the best nights I’ve had with the ‘Owlers – it was such a laugh….followed by a play in the kids’ playground…eeek!

Sunday we had one team in, Chip running lead dog. He started off brilliantly, doing a 4.7s on the lights with 0.15s start. Sadly Chip’s mentality of “I’ve done this twice, why should I go so quick again?” kicked in and he went to 4.9 to run steadily between about 4.9 and 5.2  all day – depending on how revved up he was.

I also ran Julie’s Ernie in the same division for Dog Friendly and she had Super Gertie. He is so fab! They came 3rd in the division, just behind us in 2nd place.

Thinking I’d be home Sunday night, I was persuaded to do multibreed on Monday, so borrowed Jane’s pod and in true ‘Owlers style everyone made sure I had enough food/airbeds/etc etc to keep me going hehe. :D

Jet ran with Norah in Mansfield Remix in div.1. A bit of a break from 13″ they had a height dog and both of them absolutely flew all day long. We were originally supposed to have the super speedy Alfie as our collie, but he was injured so Ice stood in. Our height dog was Moe’s Sky the english cocker spaniel who suffered quite a bit in the blistering heat but we still ran a respectable 19.29s with room to spare I think. We came 3rd in division 1 behind the ever successful Doncaster and Rotherham.

Mansfield were low on bodies when Ian was called out to a job, so I boxloaded for their second multi team, and Andrea did the line/scribed. Then I boxloaded for Paws8 who were also meant to have Ian with them lol – so as you can imagine running 3 dogs (one of them twice), karaoke and boxloading twice – I have no voice left. Eeek.

A brilliant weekend though, well done again to the Ghost ‘Owlers, we knew we’d get there eventually. :) . And a very happy retirement to Jack, one of the original ‘Owlers dogs, his last race was fantastic. Also to Flossy, who although will be back for a few guest appearances, will no longer be racing full time – think both Jet and I will miss lining up with her in div.1!

Dashin’ Dogs

August 26th, 2009

I booked all of Dashin’ initially, but seeing as we have Drax flyball the weekend after I figured 6days of agility followed by a weekend away flyballing might be a bit much for Jet – and a bit harsh on my poor Dad left at home. So we just did Friday to Tuesday, with Monday being the day off. Anyway, I was very excited about Jet’s second show at Grade2!

Friday

Graded 1-3 jumping, a nice course, however a tight turn onto a tunnel. In true Jet (and me) style we had a wide turn as I didn’t get my cross in early enough. There was a long diagonal, and after watching quite a few dogs miss one of the jumps in it, I handled it a bit more than usual. It meant that we had a safe clear but I think I should have had more faith in her and let her blast it. Anyway, she came 2nd :D . I think around 0.9s or something behind the winner.

Combined 1-2 jumping was a lovely course which I really liked. There was a 90degree weave entry that I pull off too sharply for and she went in second pole – she did get it next attempt though and flew around the rest of it really nicely.

Saturday

Combined 1-2 jumping she flew around, maybe a slight hesitation when I changed my mind and didn’t cross but she came a fantastic 2nd, beaten by 0.03s. Argh!

Grade 2 agility was nice, there was a push over a push right and then you needed them to go immediately left. She did it in a fashion but with a bit of a spin and a loop. To my amazement she still placed 4th, and although quite a way off the winner (who was an incredibly fast dog! ), she was very close to second place.

Graded 1-3 agility. A nice course, not really a Jet course but she did a lovely run – shame she got shamefully beaten by her handler as we collided not once but twice, poor girl. Note to self: my dog has a HUGE jump. Anyway, she came 2nd, 0.9s off the winner and she’d have placed 6th in the G3 too I believe. :D

Combined 1-4 helter skelter. I heard this call to close just as I was going to do G2 agility, and there was nobody on the line. I had kind of forgotten where the course was. Anyway we made a HUGE mess of it, allbeit she was listening to me telling her the wrong obstacles. Bless her.

Sunday

Grade 2 jumping I pulled off way too soon to do a front cross and I pulled her into the wrong end of the tunnel – I could have kicked myself really as I watched dogs in front of me do the same and didn’t think it through.

Graded 1-3 jumping. She flew around, but I bravely tried to front cross before the weaves, turned my shoulders to look back at her which sent her off at an angle and she completely missed the weaves. A nice run otherwise though!

Combined 1-2 agility. The same judge who gave us the wishing well at JDA lol! Her aframe was on the slow side, but her dogwalk was nice, she did the difficult bits nicely but we had a spin at the end when she was meant to go left. To my amazement she ended up 3rd with that!

Monday

MuddyjetP24-08-09_12.48[01]

A day off classes, so we went to the Delamere Forest for a good few hours on a walk – the dogs loved it. Jet found a HUGE muddy puddle to lie in, resulting in me spending an hour at the caravan brushing and cleaning her before she could go back in. Normally I would get her out straight away but she couldn’t get any muddier so left her to it, and got the photographic evidence…

Tuesday

In some ways this was the day she worked best, even if we didn’t get the same results as previous days.

Grade 2 agility. She was fantastic, flew around it, dead pleased with all of it. I think her time was 27.95s, but then she got the dreade POLE. I think I shouted left too soon to her. Very gutted as the winner did it in 36.43s, so she’d have had it by a mile. She did place 6th though, even with her faults!

Graded 1-3 agility. A nice course apart from one part, which was the killer. A curved tunnel with the entrances right next to each other, one sunk about 3ft further out and pointing straight at the jump the dog had just come over. You had to make them do the sunken back entrance. Anyway, after a discussion with Orienne, she gave me an idea of what to do – I was stumped and had nothing to lose. After watching E after E after E on the course, it was Jet’s go. She did the tunnel bit really nicely, the best out of any of them I saw. As she flew towards the end I thought OMG we could have this. She flew out of the flat tunnel and straight into the next tunnel. She didn’t even see the weaves – arghhhh. I was really mad at myself for not slowing her down, and for having worried so much about the rest of the course that I neglected the end of the course.

Combined 1-2 jumping was a nice course, very fast running and nearly everyone going clear. Jet put in a nice round – I could have really pushed her more but I just wanted to end the day on a high rather than the disappointment of the previous round. She came 6th in the end – 0.3s off 2nd. The dog that won was a gorgeous Belgian Shepherd that was like lightning with a little girl – they were over a second ahead of everyone else, so they really deserved the win.

Although there were a few disappointments this weekend, I was really pleased with Jet, in fact REALLY pleased. She was getting lots of clears, we were working together really well and when we went wrong it was only little things. In fact I think she only had 3Es all “week”. She is also very close to her bronze agility warrant too. Yey :D Roll on High Peak. Yey!

A few WELL DONEs:

Itty and Robbie for winning Grade 1 Agility at last (hopefully she might reinstate her blog now she “has something to write about”!)
Leanne and Kim for their numerous 3rd places and some sparks of the Kim we know!
Orienne and Woody for winning Small Grade 6 Jumping – halfway to Grade 7 now
Shaun and Ribena for their Grade 3 Jumping win – go the lurchers!

British Championships 2009

August 18th, 2009

Wow – what a tournament!

Friday started off with the Night ‘Owlers in division 24. Kim, Moll, Bailey, Stripe, Sam and Buffy stormed their way to victory by winning every single leg they raced. I boxloaded for the team, and have to say they looked very professional and deserved the win. Our judge even commented on it! Well done guys.

Friday evening followed a night of NEON in the marquee, pics on facebook! Yes, check out those sunglasses…not that I could see in them at all, and yes, they were stolen off poor Sarah!

neone2

Saturday was the Hawk ‘Owlers turn to race in division 18. Lucy, Chip, Buddy, Skye and Dylan finally got to run a sub20 time by doing 19.98s and several very close (20.04, 20.12). Unfortunately lights in early races meant that races were lost that should really have been theirs. They did end up a commendable 3rd place with the fastest time in the division and I’m sure they will be back and fighting for it next year!

Saturday evening was another disco organised by the Mad Mutts. After Andrea’s music quiz at camp ‘Owler (my Led Zep revision earned team “Clueless” 2points lol!) I joined Nat and the Ballistics for another crazy night, most memorably to B.E.P.s with Sam and Nat. Reasonably early bedtime so as not to be too hungover in the morning.

Sunday saw the Barney ‘Owlers in division 7, eventually seeded second on the time of 18.69s that we ran at Middlesbrough, it looked set to be close racing. Our line up was Norah, Floss, Jet, George and they all ran their socks off. We managed an amazing time of 18.25s (with 0.26s on the lights! Wow!) and lots of sub 18.50s time, including an 18.44s where I had a good few feet on a change. In the end we WON the division, not dropping a single leg all day and winning every race! Three years in a row for little Jetly now, bless her.

More amazingly still, we won the Feelwells Team Challenge cup! Overall as a club we won 80% of races, that was more than any of the other 93 clubs entered, and to give you an idea – 2nd place only won 71%. So to say we were pleased was an understatement!

The best champs yet in my opinion! Was great to catch up with the people I don’t see too often but speak to all the time – Bristol, Flyers etc!

Finally, huge congrats to Anne and the Bassets Hotdogs, they won division 1 in style to become British Champions 2009. Also well done to High Flyers who fought right to the end to defend their title, and to Cleveland who took a fantastic 3rd in the division!
